By the way, Nix will be our last turtle for now, since she fits nicely as the final spot on the Lorestone's turtle page. From here, I'll be focusing more on polishing visuals and little details rather than adding new turtles, items, etc.
Then I'll probably work on the Relics feature, and once that's done, I'll likely call it a v1.0 complete. After that, we'll move on to new extra content, difficulty settings, and more.

Feature request: could you please add a small tooltip to show how much the quartz/gem contributed to the shield stack?

For the shield stack gain display, I tried using a floating message, but it overlaps with the quartz/gem floating message, so it ends up a bit hard to read.
Is it difficult to clear the game with Nix? I haven’t had any luck reaching water with her so far.
It's pretty hard, yeah. You need to get lucky with the restore cells/gems, as well as have the high shield as high as possible. I did my usual strat of using sanguine signet + snow boots until lava, then switched to winterheart and magmawalker, using one mageflare rune every seven depth to do optimal traversal. At the obsidian I swapped out winterheart and made it with 2 health to spare after several attempts. It's probably the hardest still doable challenge in the game, unlike all turtles beside Griddle in hard mode
Regarding the shield gain, instead of popping it up near the resource gain (and double yield/free dig message), maybe it could pop up in the new status bar, underneath the shield icon?
Hmm, yeah, I think Magmawalker is definitely important for Nix. Winterheart lowering her Power ends up being kind of like applying Burn anyway (when the shield runs out). Thanks for laying out your strat, by the way. These kinds of guides are super helpful for me when balancing things.
As for the shield gain popup, I get where you're coming from, but the idea is to make the amount of shield gained clearly visible without players needing to glance up at the status bar. If the popup appeared under the shield icon, it might end up feeling redundant, especially since you can already track the stack change there, and I worry about cluttering the limited screen space with popups in multiple spots. Let's keep things as is for now, but I'll definitely keep thinking about ways to improve that feedback clarity.
how do i get her?
Dig up a Quartz in the Magma zone. Quartz do not spawn in the Magma zone naturally.
Hint: bring one without digging it until you've reached lava
